1.U VISA:
Have you ever been a victim of a crime? Did you report it to the police? Did you collaborate with the authorities? You did not drop the charges? If the answer is “Yes,” you could qualify for a U visa.
2. Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
Are you under 21 years old? Has one of your parents abandoned you, does not support you or has physically or psychologically abused you? If the answer is “Yes,” you may qualify for a legal residence.
3. Cancellation of Removal (COR)
Have you been living in the United States for 10 years or more? You have not been convicted of a serious crime. Do you have children or parents who are permanent residents or US citizens who suffer from a health or learning problem? If the answer is “Yes,” you may qualify for a legal residence.
4. VAWA
Have you married a US citizen or a permanent resident in the United States? Have you been verbally and/or physically abused? You can apply for your legal residence without his/her help.
5. Did you apply for asylum?
Remember that you must apply for asylum within the first year you entered the United States. 150 days after applying, you may obtain a work permit, your social security number and your driver’s license.
